Photographers and filmmakers who know this island
Maui has exceptional natural light, and our photography and videography partners know how to use it. These are award-winning local creatives who specialize in destination weddings and understand the specifics of shooting on the island: late-afternoon light through palm fronds, a white gown against black lava rock, sunset reflected on the water. The photographers work in a documentary-candid style mixed with directed portraits. The videographers produce cinematic films with aerial drone footage, slow-motion sequences, and a clear narrative thread. Getting-ready through sparkler send-off, the full day is covered.

The Problem
Mainland photographers who spend half the day figuring out where the sun will be
Missing golden hour because the timeline was not built around Maui sunset times
Flat, overexposed beach photos that could have been taken on any coastline
No drone capabilities or FAA certification for aerial footage of this landscape
Generic editing styles that erase the specific colors and light of Maui
Our Process
A clear, proven process from first call to last dance. No guesswork, no surprises.
A real conversation about your vision, priorities, and budget. No pitch, no pressure, no commitment.
A detailed proposal built around your specific wedding — venues, vendors, timeline, and costs.
We match you with the best local professionals who fit your style, your budget, and your venue.
Color palettes, seating charts, timelines, travel logistics — we handle every detail you do not want to.
On-the-ground management from setup to send-off. You stay in the moment. We stay behind the scenes.
What You Get
The difference between a photo that is nice and one that stops you in your tracks is knowing the light.
Light in Maui behaves differently than light on the mainland. The sun sits lower in the sky relative to the tropics, ocean haze softens it, and the colors shift fast during the last hour before sunset. Golden light through palm trees. Pink and orange reflecting off the water onto skin. The deep greens of upcountry pastures against a volcanic ridgeline. Our photographers and videographers have spent years shooting in this specific environment, and they know how to use it. That matters more than you might think.
A photographer from the mainland, no matter how talented, will spend half the day figuring out where the sun will be at 4 PM in February versus August. Our local photographers already know. They know that Makena Beach faces west-southwest and gets the best light between 4:30 and 5:15 in summer. They know that Haiku Mill's courtyard goes into shade by 3 PM in winter and you need to plan first-look portraits before the ceremony, not after. They know which banyan trees in Lahaina give dappled light that flatters every skin tone.
The photographers we work with shoot in what you would call a documentary-candid style with directed portraits mixed in. That means they capture real moments as they happen, the laugh during the vows, your dad seeing you in the dress, the flower girl losing a shoe, but they also know how to pose couples and groups efficiently so you get clean formal shots without spending forty-five minutes on them.
Portrait sessions happen during golden hour. For most Maui weddings, this is between 4:00 and 5:30 PM, depending on the time of year. We build the wedding timeline around this window so you get the best possible light for couple portraits. If your ceremony is at sunset, we schedule a first look earlier in the day for portraits. Every photographer we partner with carries backup equipment. Bodies, lenses, flashes, memory cards. Hawaii's salt air and occasional rain can be hard on gear, and our people are prepared for it.
Video captures what photos cannot: the sound of the waves during the ceremony, the shakiness in someone's voice during the vows, the moment the music kicks in for the first dance. Our videography partners produce cinematic films, not the flat, overlit wedding videos from the early 2000s. They shoot in 4K, use gimbals and sliders for smooth movement, and incorporate aerial drone footage that shows the scale of Maui's landscape against the intimacy of your wedding.
Drone footage is particularly effective on Maui. Imagine an overhead shot pulling back from your ceremony on a cliff edge to reveal the Pacific Ocean stretching to the horizon. Or an aerial approach toward a private estate with the West Maui Mountains in the background. These shots give your wedding film a sense of place that is impossible to capture from the ground. Our videographers are FAA Part 107 certified for commercial drone operation and know the flight restriction zones around Maui's airports and national parks.
Deliverables typically include a three-to-five-minute highlight reel and a full-length feature film of thirty to sixty minutes. The highlight reel is the one you share on social media. The feature is the one you watch on anniversaries. Some couples also add a ceremony-only edit for family members who could not attend.
One advantage of a Maui wedding is the variety of portrait locations within a short drive. If you are getting married at a Wailea Resort wedding venue, you are ten minutes from Makena Beach's dramatic lava rock coastline. If your ceremony is in Kapalua, the Kapalua Coastal Trail gives you ironwood trees, tidepools, and panoramic ocean views. Upcountry Maui offers rolling green hills, lavender fields, and eucalyptus groves that look nothing like the beach.
Our photographers often suggest doing a "next-day session" for couples who want a second round of portraits in a completely different setting. Get married on the beach, then shoot portraits the next morning at a waterfall or in a tropical rainforest. It is an extra cost, but the photos are worth it because you are relaxed, not worried about the schedule, and you get a completely different look.
Standard coverage is eight hours, which is enough for most weddings: getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception through the last dance. Larger weddings or those with events at multiple locations may need ten to twelve hours. We also offer elopement packages for couples who want two to four hours of coverage for a small ceremony and portraits. If you are thinking about eloping on Maui, our photography packages scale down to fit.
All images are delivered in a private online gallery with high-resolution digital downloads. There is no limit on prints or sharing. You own the photos. Turnaround is typically four to six weeks for photography and eight to twelve weeks for video, though rush delivery is available for an additional fee.
We match you with a photographer based on your style preferences, wedding size, and venue. Some photographers are stronger with large receptions and fast-moving timelines. Others excel at intimate elopements and long portrait sessions. We know each photographer's strengths because we have worked with them at dozens of weddings.
Before booking, you will see full galleries from recent weddings, not just the ten best shots from a portfolio. That is how you know what to actually expect. If you want to discuss photography as part of a complete wedding plan, book a consultation and we will walk through options that fit your budget and vision.
